Vale (N53) was originally a Norwegian coastal minelayer. Launched in 1978 as part of the Vidar-class, she was donated to Latvia in 2003. Renamed Virsaitis (A53), she can carry up to 400 mines. She also carries two 40mm guns, a pair of triple 324mm torpedo tubes, and a launcher for the Mistral surface-to-air missile. Top speed is 15 knots, with a crew of sixty.
