History

RSS Courageous (96) was a Fearless-class patrol vessel. Commissioned into the Republic of Singapore Navy 5 October, 1996, Courageous displaced 550 tons, with a length of 55m (180' 5"), and a crew of thirty. The Oto Melara 76mm gun is plainly visible on the foredeck, but other armaments included the Mistral surface to air missile, A244/S Mod 1 torpedo tubes, and four STK 50MG .50 caliber machine guns. Courageous was rammed by the container ship ANL Indonesia just before midnight on 3 January, 2003. Her stern sheared off, killing four crew. Courageous' stern was raised on the 14th, but she was not repaired, and was stricken from the navy list in May.
