History

INS Aliyia was a Sa'ar 4.5 class missile boat built for the Israeli Navy. Launched in 1980, she and her sister INS Geula were the smallest warships (498 tons displacement) equipped with a helicopter hangar and landing pad. She successfully used her helicopters to attack terrorist targets in Lebanon in 1984 and 1985. After a complete overhaul in 2004, Aliyia was sold to the Mexican Navy. During the overhaul, her Harpoon anti-shipping missiles were removed, leaving just her compliment of Gabriel ASMs and light guns. Renamed ARM Huracán (A-301), she is still in active service.
