History

HMS Cottesmore (M32) is a Hunt class mine-countermeasures vessel, commissioned into the Royal Navy 24 June, 1983. She was equipped with a 40mm Bofors gun, two Mk 44 miniguns, and three 7.62mm machine guns for defense, besides her Sea Fox mine disposal system. Cottesmore was converted to a patrol vessel in 1997, and decommissioned in 2005. She was purchased by Lithuania in 2008, and commissioned in 2011 as Skalvis (M53). Skalvis underwent a wholesale upgrade in systems in France before her recommissioning, including her powerplant, mine disposal equipment, and control systems, although the defensive weapons seem to be the same.

Bonus Information

Fun Fact: Cottesmore was commanded by Prince Andrew, then a Lieutenant-Commander, from April, 1993, to November, 1994.
