History

Godetia (A960) was commissioned in 1966, and served as a command and control ship in the Belgian Navy for over fifty years. Originally armed with two twin Bofors 40mm guns, her armament and equipment underwent several changes over the years. Godetia finished out her career armed with four to six .50 caliber machine guns, plus whatever her helicopter brought along. She had a cruise range of 6,000 nautical miles, a top speed of 19 knots, and a crew of ninety-six. In addition to the Belgian Navy, Godetia worked heavily with NATO on mine countermeasures operations, providing humanitarian aid, and could function as a traveling embassy. She was decommissioned 26 June, 2021, but Belgium currently does not plan to replace her.
