History

Mistral (S-73) was an Agosta-class submarine of the Spanish Navy. Built under license from France by the Empresa Nacional Bazán dockyard at Cartagena, Mistral was commissioned in 1985, and retired in 2021. During her career, Mistral participated in several international fleet exercises, and supported the intervention in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. She carried four bow tubes that could launch the Exocet anti-shipping missile or torpedoes. Mistral is admitted to have been able to dive to 300m (980 feet), with a speed of 12 knots on the surface and 20.5 knots underwater. She had a crew of 41.
