History
HMS Eridge (L68) was a Hunt-class destroyer escort. Laid down in 1939, Eridge commissioned 28 February, 1941, and was assigned to the Mediterranean. She received credit for an assisted kill on U-568, 29 May, 1942, and bombarded Axis positions near El Daba, Egypt, 29 August of the same year. During the bombardment, Eridge was torpedoed by the Italian torpedo boat MTSM-228, and put out of action for the rest of the war. Eridge was used as a base ship in Alexandria until October, 1946, when she was sold for scrap.
